Red ball express

Sometime we have the impression, things are changing to fast for us and we have some trouble to follow the stream as there are everyday news and actions in progress. This is again the situation this week.

On the Mosquito front, Eric received again a massive support from the Mosquito Museum. The cockpit access ladder was offered to the Museum by this this prestigious institution. A few days later, Eric received another delivery from the same source, another spare part manual for our Mosquito. This cooperation is the results of numerous contacts and visits of BAMRS members to the Mosquito Museum (at the expenses of the BAMRS members). These miracles are just an example of the intense world wide network developed as well by the Museum but also by the volunteers.

This is not finished for the Mosquito, as Pascal manufactured parts to install the radio racks in the cockpit. These parts were manufactured using drawings offered by the Mosquito Museum.

In the Dragon area, we had this week a lot of visitors who visited the sleeping lady. One of our visitors came from as far as Canada. Nicolas is progressing well on the main spars and the tail is ready to be installed.

We have more and more visitors every Saturday since the main entrance of the Museum is now located in the Aviation Hall.  This is also the result of cleanup and a better visibility for our workshop thank to the help of the Museum.

In the Tipsy aera, the assembly of the first aircraft in the next weeks is prepared. All the panels are now ready. Another "bad boy" is back from six month assignment at sea. Jean-Marc is an officer in Merchant Navy but as soon as he is back, he comes to help us.

The Drakken, Mig 15 and Fiat G-91 have left the Museum to be stored during the facade renovation thanks to the Comopsair staff. It was certainly not a piece of cake during this Holidays time and signify a lot of heavy work for the professional staff of the Museum. Nevertheless, there are already working on the next special evening at the Museum (12/11/2009). We will publish the program soon.

Although our Lysander (the one of the Museum) is not waited before end of this year, some items are already on display in the Sabena display aera.

Pierre Cryns published his book on Eugene Debongnies, one of the very interesting aviation pioneer in Belgium. The book contains 48 pages and many illustrations. If you are interested to acquire this book, please contact we will transmit to Pierre.

Many happy landings and take care at gremlins.

In the magical setting of the Royal Museum of the Army, the exhibition shows how many authors have drawn inspiration from history and military techniques.  In visiting the exhibition, the public will go through all the collections of the Museum.  Visitors will discover original and amusing showcases of items of the collections and how they are reflected in the comic strips.  The two dimensions of the comic strip are thus juxtaposed to the real world.
